What’s On

A core charitable aim of the Society is to advance education in gardening and horticulture for the public benefit. We seek to achieve this in a number of different ways, through lectures, workshops, sharing learning, providing advice, information and practical demonstrations.

Talks and Lectures

The Caley offers an exciting programme of talks, over the winter months from October to March. Whatever your horticultural interests are, there will be something to interest you. This year, because of the coronavirus restrictions we have moved our talks to an online format.  We do hope that you will join us.

Workshops & Dig Days

We currently run a variety of workshops, covering all aspects of horticulture.  Most of our workshops take place at our base within Saughton Park in Edinburgh but we also have pruning workshops at our demonstration allotment, also in Edinburgh.

Visits

There’s always something to learn from other gardens. Join us on one of our organised summer visits to fantastic gardens around Scotland and further afield.

We also offer some shorter visits and walks to view our local flora and fauna.

Shows

The Society holds an annual Spring Bulb Show which features a variety of classes to enter.  Members of the Society are often involved in other Horticultural Shows and produce from the allotment is entered at some local shows. Many local societies are part of the Scottish Gardeners Forum which was established by the Caley to provide a supportive network for smaller societies.  You will find a useful list of shows across Scotland on their website.
