Drumlanrig – the making of a ducal landscape
Speaker: Professor David Munro
An exploration of the garden and policies surrounding Drumlanrig Castle as well as the wider landscape of the Queensberry Estate in Dumfriesshire.
A former Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh and Director of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society (1996-2008), David Munro has a special interest in historical geography and landscape studies. Co-author of Scotland: An Encyclopedia of Places and Landscapes (Collins 2006), he has since 2012 been a heritage advisor to the Duke of Buccleuch on the Queensberry Estate.
Our talks are in the Lecture Theatre at RBGE however we are also live-streaming the event for those who cannot attend in-person. Register for the talk on Eventbrite and you will be sent a joining link on the day of the talk. We do still intend to put recordings of the talks on our website for members.
All talks will begin at 7.30pm. Our talks are free and are open to non-members. All we ask is that you make a small donation at the door or perhaps buy a raffle ticket if you can. For those who have not attended a lecture at RBGE before, entry is via the main reception: 20a Inverleith Row, Edinburgh, EH3 5LR (just down from the East Gate).
