Our events

A core charitable aim of the Society is to advance education in gardening and horticulture for the public benefit. We seek to achieve this in a number of different ways, through lectures, workshops, sharing learning, providing advice, information and practical demonstrations.

The Caley offers an exciting programme of talks, run fortnightly, over the winter months from October to March. Whatever your horticultural interests are, there will be something to interest you. Talks are free to members; guests are very welcome and are asked to make a small donation for entry.

We have a wide and varied calender of events, workshops and talks at our home base of Saughton Park.  You will also find details of our Saughton Sunday activities listed here.

Workshops & Dig Days

We currently run a variety of workshops, covering aspects of horticulture such as fruit pruning and bulb raising.

We hope to expand our workshops to cover a greater variety of horticultural topics once we move into our new home at Saughton Park, Edinburgh later this year.

There’s always something to learn from other gardens. Join us on one of our organised summer visits to fantastic gardens around Scotland and further afield.

We also offer some shorter visits and walks to view our local flora and fauna.

The Society holds an annual Spring Show and is heavily involved in the running of Gardening Scotland. Members of the Society are often involved in other Horticultural Shows and produce from the allotment is also entered at some local shows. Many local societies are part of the Scottish Gardeners Forum   which was established by the Caley to provide a supportive network for smaller societies.  You will find a useful list of shows across Scotland in their newsletter which is on their website.
