Cold and frosty but the sun was shining.
Frosty on Thursday and the ground was frozen but no wind and sunny and clear – the best sort of winter day.
The team couldn’t work on the ground but there is always other work to be done. All the paths were given a good topping-up of wood chips from the huge pile at the allotment – and the robin was down straightaway looking for insects and worms.
Extra training wires were added to support the espaliered apples and we cut out the thick stems from the hazels, setting aside most of the branches for use as peasticks next year. The slim straight branches were taken away to turn into Christmas decorations.
Jobs for next week: Prune back the willows. Continue with turning the grass paths into wood chip paths. Work on the chalet garden
