Head Gardener Position – Brantwood
The Brantwood Trust is looking for a new full time Head Gardener to take on the challenge of looking after and developing the historic gardens and estate. Brantwood is the former home of artist, writer and social visionary John Ruskin. It is a historic house with a 250 acre estate on the shores of Coniston Water in the Lake District National Park. The gardens extend to around 20 acres and thread throughout the steep slopes of ancient semi-natural coppiced woodland that have been restored and re-invigorated during the last 25 years. The gardens include historic features, azaleas and rhododendrons, informal herbaceous plantings, an orchard, pond, and native herb garden all set in the stunning scenery of the Lake District. Today Brantwood is a busy art and cultural centre, an accredited museum and a place where Ruskin’s ethos shapes its approach to everything. It receives around 40,000 visitors a year, many of whom come specifically to enjoy the gardens and estate. Interested? Click here for details of the job and how to apply.
