The workshop pots have been removed from their winter quarters.
On a bright sunny, but chilly, morning in Edinburgh the Caley workshop participants and I headed to the RBGE nursery. Having driven up from the Borders, where we still have snow, it was a delight to be greeted at the nursery gates by a very cheery Camellia in a neighbouring garden.
We soon set to work removing the pots that had been plunged back in October:
In some places the root growth was really well established and we needed the extra assistance of a fork!
The excess soil is carefully removed
Followed by a quick guide about how to prepare our blooms for the show….
And finally the pots head home.
Keep an eye on the blog and you will be able to gauge the progress of your own bulbs. See you at the show.
