A windy day on the Allotment

 In Allotment, Blog, Veg Growing

Thursday was a day when we had to keep flasks, gloves and anything light weighed down due to the strength of the wind.

The repairs continued on the raised beds and the loose shoots on the soft fruit were all checked for ties.

A start was made on trimming back the grass edges, not for appearances sake but to keep the grass away from the raised beds and make mowing easier later on.

The honeyberries are being moved to the border to release space for vegetable growing and the first step today was to clear the area they are being moved to. We also had a taste of the delicious jam made from last year’s honeyberry crop.

Jobs for next week

  • Hopefully move the saskatoon! We have been trying to get to this job for a while now, but sometime you just don’t get all of the jobs done.
  • Lift (carefully) and move the daffodils that are growing among the artichokes
  • Continue with the repairs and edge cutting back
