Cloudy Day on Allotment
A cloudy day and the promised rain didn’t arrive so we made good progress. We had the last bonfire of the winter to clear away all the prunings etc and the ash was spread around the fruit bushes.
A further two of the new raised beds were double dug. Tom’s onions, variety ‘Centurion’, were planted out and netted and a row of broad beans which had been sown in pots planted out. The variety was ‘Bunyard’s Exhibition’.
There was a delivery of wood chip while we were onsite so we moved very quickly and many barrowfulls later, all the new paths between the raised beds had a good covering.
Jobs for next week
Mulch all the fruit beds with leaves
