George was only away for a few days!
They say that a week is a long time in politics. I have to say that a week away from my show daffodils certainly felt like a very long time. They have exploded into growth in the last seven days.
While the Jan Bos Hyacinth pot is looking good, the same cannot be said for the pot of tulips.
Unlike other years the tulips are a bit backwards on coming forward but may just be at their best by the week of the show. They will have to be staked and straightened to be eye-catching I am afraid. By show week the hyacinth flowers should be fully opened

Sabatini and Kiwi Sunset
The pot of ‘Sabatini’ looks good but because I have not been turning the pot each day, all the flowers seem to be pointing the one way. It is well flowered however and contains come good individual flowers. I have grown the double flowered ‘Kiwi Sunset’ before and is a consistently good variety producing well formed blooms that in the past have won many a prize.
The pot of ‘Tru’ is well flowered and if I can keep it in the shade it will retain its pale colour and may have a chance on the showbench. It is one I would grow again just like ‘Dolcoath’ which has some well formed and flowers at the moment. Both pots will be pot in the shade to hold them back.

Dolcoath and Tru
The pots of Scamp Challenge are just starting to open their flowers and should certainly have some single cut flowers for the showbench.

I am writing this on Friday night (20th March) and today has been really warm and sunny. I would rather that the weather cooled down a bit as that would slow down flower development. So it is back into the shade for all the pots. The next possible hazard could be strong winds so remember to keep an eye on the weather forecast over the next two weeks.
Soon it will be Showtime and time to dress the pots and cut flowers for the showbench.
Stay safe and well and Happy Pottering
George
