Inspiring Young Gardeners

 In Blog, Saughton Park

Two young visitors to Saughton Park stopped by to see our Teaching Garden on Friday.  Max and Holly (2 regulars of the Saughton Friday Crew) were working on the garden and invited them (and their parents) in for a closer look.  After their visit, Mum Lauren emailed to say what a great time they had all had, finding out about how veggies grow and to have a go at harvesting some.  Young Henry now wants to be a gardener when he grows up!

Lauren said,

“Max and Holly spent considerable time and attention teaching me and my husband, and our two sons all about the vegetables, teaching us all how the vegetables grow and even allowed us to pick carrots, dig up potatoes, cut some broccoli! Max was so kind and so engaging with my sons – we all had a wonderful time!”

It’s great to see our young Caley members inspiring the next generation of gardeners like this – after all, it is one of the reasons the Caley was founded back in 1809, and is as relevant today as it has always been.
