Lockdown Gardening is Blooming in Banff
Grow & Learn participants from Banff Day Opportunities in Aberdeenshire have been growing at home, thanks to Andy Logan (Support Co-ordinator) who gave out seed packets to the gardeners just before lockdown. At home, the gardeners and their support staff have been growing sunflowers, sprouting seeds and one of the gardeners is also now looking after pots he is growing outside his flat door. One of the gardeners who has sampled some of the salad leaves he has grown said they tasted good.
‘This idea has gone down really well and has proved an invaluable way of not only keeping in touch with the guys but also keeping them using the skills they have learned. I’ve already had requests from other support workers for packs of seeds for people who are not currently in a garden group.’ Andy Logan, Support Co-ordinator, AHSCP
Just goes to show how important our connection with plants and nature is and making it part of our daily lives is beneficial to us all.
