Soggy day on the Allotment

 In Allotment, Blog, Veg Growing

The Allotment team only did a short stint on Thursday due to the rain. The last of the apples )variety Hawthornden ) were picked, we cut down the Jerusalem artichokes to knee high and cut up the stems for the compost heap, temporarily propped up a couple of the fruit posts which had rotted at the base and blown over in the recent gale and secured the netting where it had been blown down. After a picking of sprouts, kale, broccoli and leeks and some apples, potatoes and onions from the store we retreated to shelter for a hot drink.

Jobs for next week

  • Permanent stakes for the summer rasps
  • Wood filler on the shed
  • Prepare for the move of the bramble and saskatoon
