Sow and Grow with The Caley

 In Blog

During the lockdown in 2020, many people tried to grow things for themselves, often for the first time, and often with mixed results.

This year, the weather during lockdown has not been so kind. The restrictions (and the cold weather!) have gone on for a long time.  But there is still time to sow seeds in May. The Caley is offering kits containing seeds, pots and compost for people to have a go, particularly for newbie growers or those without a garden to grow in.

All you need to do is pick up a kit at Saughton!  We have a variety of seeds available, so come early if you are after something in particular – first come, first served!:

  • wildflower seed selections for pots or window boxes,
  • peas or cute stumpy carrots,
  • marigolds or sunflower seeds.

We even provide the hints and tips and ‘don’t panic’ notes!

As we are linking this to the Edinburgh Thriving Greenspaces project the only thing we ask is for recipients to give us a note of their postcode.

Packs will be available to pick up from Friday 14th at Saughton Park in the Courtyard area. After that, kits will be available every Monday, Friday and Saturday (10am -2.30pm) until the end of May (or until the kits are all gone)
