Update on George’s bulbs
The weather has taken a turn ( some would say for the better) and as a consequence there has been some movement on the bulb front.
The pot of ‘Pink Prince’ tulips have grown taller and greened up since last week. The ‘Jan Bos’ Hyacinths likewise have put on some growth and both pots will be set outside in the shade just to hold them back a bit.
Some of the hyacinth bulbs were throwing up two flower shoots. I have carefully removed the smaller of the shoots. The show schedule requires only one flower shoot per bulb.
The pots of ‘Sabatini’ and ‘Kiwi Sunset ‘ are showing some well-set flower-buds. They will be set outside out of the direct sun to slow down their growth.
The pot of ‘Dolcoath’ is looking very well advanced with a good crop of flower-buds obvious while the pot of Tru is slightly behind the curve.
The pot of ‘Tru’ Will be put back in the cold glasshouse and ‘Dolcoath’ will be put outside.
I am happy with the Scamp Challenge bulbs and they will go back into the cold glasshouse just to keep them developing.
I have a number of early daffodils flowering in the garden this week, ‘ ‘ Arctic Bells’ and ‘Mite’ as well as the first of the ‘Tete a Tete’ and ‘Rapture’.
All my pots will be fed with a dilute liquid feed and for those sitting outside on the weather and the likelihood of strong winds.
I am amazed that every year can be so different from the last. That is what makes it interesting I suppose.
Keep an eye of feeding and watering and be prepared to move your pots in and out of the sunshine to control their development
Happy Pottering
George
