What a difference a week of mild weather makes…
The milder weather of the last week and the increased sunshine has made a difference to the growth of all the pots of bulbs.
The pot of Tulips has been outside in the shade all week. It is slightly behind the curve at the moment and may need some time in the sunshine to help it develop.
The Hyacinths meantime have been sitting out in the sunshine this week and have started to really open. Only two of the flowers are worthy of the show.
The pots of Scamp challenge have really stretched up during the week and will be removed from the shelter of the glasshouse to slow them down. The flower buds are well developed but not yet at the gooseneck stage. For the next week they will be outside in the shade.
The pots of Teal and Halloon look OK and will also be put outside for the next week to slow them down. The pot of Ballroom Queen has a good number of buds evident and seems to have recovered well from its poor start. The pot of Precocious has been inside the cold glasshouse all week and along with Ballroom Queen it will be put out into a shaded place to steady up its growth.
- Haloon and Teal
- Ballroom Queen and Precocious
All pots will continue to be fed with a high potash liquid feed and kept well watered for the next week. I will also keep an eye on the forecast and especially keep a look out for any strong winds or gales. The pots dry out very quickly when there are windy conditions.
Happy pottering
George
