Autumn on the Caley Allotment
Thursday was a blustery day and it was good to find the runner bean frame still standing firm, but it is now time to take it down since the beans are over. The windfall apples were collected, mostly with no obvious damage but they will be bruised so they are ones to eat first, and the others checked for ripeness.
The courgettes are also over so they were taken out, the various areas of netting firmed up and the grass edges trimmed back. Some weeding was done as well, especially among the winter veg.
It was good to hear the flowers on the Mashua are a sign that the tubers are developing, so looking forward to digging them up around the end of the year. It is an amazing plant since the flowers and leaves are also edible.
