Caley Talk – “Safeguarding the living collection at RBGE”. Feb 7th.
A look at the work so far of the RBGE Horticultural team, lifting moving and potting the 40,000 plants from the Glasshouses and surrounding areas, to make way for the renovations and replacements of the Glasshouses as part of the Edinburgh Biomes Project.
Fiona is one of the Glasshouse Supervisors at RBGE. Since 2018 she has been seconded onto the Biomes project to advise on glasshouse horticulture and program the decant for the 10 public and 17 Support glasshouses (covering approximately 2ac of glass) which hold approx., 6491 taxa & 11330 Accessions – 66% of which are wild sourced. Join us for her unique insight into this project.
Our talks are held in the Lecture Theatre at RBGE. We do still intend to put recordings of the talks on our website for members who cannot attend in person. All talks will begin at 7.30pm. Our talks are free and are open to non-members. All we ask is that you make a small donation at the door or perhaps buy a raffle ticket if you can. For those who have not attended a lecture at RBGE before, entry is via the main reception: 20a Inverleith Row, Edinburgh, EH3 5LR (just down from the East Gate).
