George has lifted his Caley pots for the Spring Show

Well, the second stage of the bulb growing process has begun.

Ready to lift from the plunge

The pots of Caley bulbs have been lifted from the plunge, cleaned up and set out in the cold glasshouse.

They will be left alone for the next week after which I will start feeding and watering as necessary.  They all look in good order although the tulips appear to be a bit tall and lanky.

It is just about seven weeks until the show and the process of getting the bulbs to flower and be in the peak of condition for the showbench is a tricky but enjoyable task. It is very weather dependent. Dull weather will hold the bulbs back while warm sunshine will push them on towards flowering. Lots of decisions to be made from here on in.
Meanwhile all you need to do is lift your pots from the plunge, clean them off and leave them alone for the next week.
Happy pottering
George
