Caley Award Presentations
The Caley Awards were presented on the 15th of March of this year at our online Award Ceremony, but we gave our award winners the opportunity to receive their awards in person at our Spring Bulb Show, which took place on the 2nd and 3rd of April in Saughton Park in Edinburgh.
I am glad to say that some of our award winners decided to join us on Sunday to pick up their awards. It was lovely to meet them in person after corresponding by email for so long. Many thanks to them for braving the cold and rain to join in us in a rather chilly marquee. Fortunately we were surrounded by the beautiful blooms that had been entered in the show, which brightened the day somewhat.
The awards were presented by Caley President, Colin Ainsworth.
The award ceremony is always one of my favourite Caley events in our calendar. It gives us the opportunity to recognise folk from all aspects of Scottish horticulture, both amateur and professional.
Our award winners this year came from all over Scotland, some working in horticulture and others working with community groups in their spare time, but all have the same passion for working with plants and teaching others about them. I think it bodes well for Scottish horticulture to have such dedicated people involved in the sector.
One of award winners, Willie Campbell, was unable to join us on the Sunday but popped in to see us on Saturday afternoon. Many thanks to George Anderson, recently retired Honorary President, for making the presentation.
Thank you to award winners for joining us at the weekend – we hope you enjoyed it as much a we did! You can find it more about our award winners on the website (click here to go to the Awards page). I think you will agree that the awards were very well deserved.
To our award recipients who were unable to attend – don’t worry, your award will be winging its way to you shortly.
