The pots are out of the plunge.

In Blog, Bulb growing, George Anderson, Spring Show

On Friday, a few days earlier than normal, we lifted the pots of spring bulbs members had plunged at Saughton to grow for the Spring Bulbs show.  The level of growth on one of the daffodils was very noticeable.

To help us keep track of progress, and to enable us to pick up hints and tips, George also lifted his selection of the workshop bulbs and has sent us the first of his bulb blogs.

“I lifted my Caley bulbs out of the plunge today four days earlier than normal just to keep pace with the ones lifted at Saughton.

The spring show is not until the first weekend in April so some of them will need to be kept back while others may require to be hurried along.

The pots are now in the cold glasshouse and will be left unwatered for the next ten days when watering and feeding will commence.

The pots of daffodil and Scamp Challenge bulbs look good as do the tulips but there are some issues with the hyacinths ( more of that later)

Stay safe and well and look after your bulbs.

George
