Another chilly day on the Allotment.

 In Allotment, Blog

Thursday was a chilly and bright day, but we still needed to keep moving to stay warm, so the main job today was spreading the manure round the fruit trees and bushes, and we had another bonfire.

We need a warmer day to do the repair work on the windbreak.

Spreading manure around the rhubarb.

The Jerusalem artichokes have grown to a good size and we also had a picking of kale & leeks and dug up the last red cabbage. With the sub-zero temperatures of the last week, most of the potatoes that were left were frosted, even though they were well protected in the shed.

And the first daffodil is almost in bloom.

Jobs for next week

  • Repair of windbreak – weather permitting!
