Making compost on the Allotment

 In Allotment, Blog

Thursday was a pretty cold day.  There had been an overnight frost so it was good to keep busy by checking over the compost bins. Each of the plastic bins was emptied and some of the compost spread but most forked over to loosen it and allow more air into it and put back into the bin to finish rotting down. Even in the cold weather it was good to see the composting worms still hard at work.

The grass edges were cut back and tidied, not a job we find much time for once the growing season starts.

Jobs for next week

  • Start coppicing the hazel
