Windy day on the Allotment

 In Allotment, Blog

On Thursday it was too windy to have a bonfire and be safe so we held it over again for another week. But there is always plenty to do with keeping the weeds under control and the paths clear. The strong winds showed how important it is to keep the winter brassicas well supported and some stronger stakes were put in and all the ties checked as well as the yellowing leaves removed which can harbour slugs. We almost finished clearing the community bed and the repairs to the raised beds were finished.

This unknown variety of rhubarb doesn’t die down.

Jobs for next week

  • Bonfire weather permitting
  • Tidy up round the edges
  • Check the potatoes and apples
