George and narcissus bulb rot!

 In Bulb growing, Spring Show

Just when I thought that all was well with my bulbs, disaster strikes!!  Some of the pots I lifted from the plunge had “blind ” bulbs where they had not rooted, nor had they put up any green shoots.  The cause I traced to narcissus basal bulb rot caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. narcissi a soil and or bulb borne disease. 1st-feb-bulb-rot
The affected bulbs were removed and consigned to the bin.

Some of the Hyacinths are looking good, others less so. The white flowered variety Carnegie have thrown up some double flower shoots and these will have to be reduced to one shoot per bulb, they are already showing their flowers which is a bit early to say the least.

It is never easy is it?
